Angelica Root
Angelica archangelica: ORGANIC. Our ORGANIC Angelica is picked fresh in Oregon’s lush Applegate Valley. This spicy root is well known as a grounding tonic, warming to the body. Angelica’s stimulating properties enhance digestion and help increase vitality. Referred to as "Herb of the Angel," it’s especially nourishing for women, reported to reduce the symptoms of PMS. (Avoid during pregnancy or heavy menstruation)

Alfalfa Leaf
Medicago sativa: ORGANIC. Alfalfa is known as a wonder herb because of its restorative, nutritive qualities. The leaves have historically been used for increasing the appetite and vitality, reducing water retention and improving assimilation of nutrients. Alfalfa contains 15%-25% protein, A, B1, B6, B12, C, E, K1along with the minerals calcium, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, iron and zinc. Drink to your health!

Astragalus Root
Astragalus: ORGANIC. Delicately sweet, Astragalus root is a standard in many Chinese herb formulas. This versatile herb, our herb teachers tell us, reinvigorates the immune system and promotes stamina while supporting the liver. Oriental herbalists say this herb protects the body and improves resiliency. A favorite herb for teas as the season’s change -- fall into winter and spring into summer.

Blue Vervain Herb
Verbena hastata: ORGANIC. Take care naturally. We choose Blue Vervain to strengthen the nervous system and promote a sense of calmness and ease. Storytellers say that Vervain was once worn as a charm against headaches and general good luck. (Avoid during pregnancy or if one has liver disease)

Black Cohosh Root
Cimicifuga racemosa: Wildcrafted. There’s black cohosh and there’s black cohosh. We set our standards high. We know who’s harvesting it and that it’s picked at the height of the season. This "woman’s friend," because of it’s estrogenic qualities, helps balance and regulate hormone production during menopause. As you drink our tea, envision the white fairylike flower. Research has shown that Black Cohosh supports and balances the female reproductive system. (Avoid during pregnancy.)

Black Currant Fruit
Arubus: Black currants make great tea. They add just the right hint of sweetness to our Internal Renew tea blend and are brimming with Vitamin C.

Borage Herb
Borago officinalis: ORGANIC. Nutritious and soothing to the nerves, Borage is especially comforting during sad times. This mystical herb, with its lavender star blossoms, was said to strengthen one's courage. (Avoid when nursing)

Burdock Root
Arctium lappa: ORGANIC. A tonic for the whole body, Burdock has been traditionally added to tea blends for internal balance, health and radiance. Burdock’s nourishing properties – a rich concentration of vitamins and minerals, especially iron – are said to enhance life force. Burdock is a natural, especially for skin rejuvenation.

Catnip Leaf
Nepeta cataria: ORGANIC. Catnip to the rescue when you need that gentle mood lift. It calms from the inside out. This tiny mint is praised in the old herbal folk guides as helpful for digestion, colds and flues – especially where there is cough or fever. And catnip’s excellent for children too. (Avoid during pregnancy.)

Calendula Flower
Calendula officinalis: ORGANIC. Calendula’s perky orange flowers are sunshine in a cup. The flowers are often used in formulas to ease a sore throat, promote healthy skin and improve digestion. Sip for joy! (Avoid during pregnancy.)

Cardamom Seeds
Eletarria cardamonum: Cardamom’s very scent will send you swooning. The seeds gently infuse our teas with their aromatic, warming and stimulating properties. Cardamom’s distinctive ginger-like flavor sweetens tea up naturally.

Chamomile Flower
Matricaria recutita: ORGANIC. If you don’t have a hammock nearby, sip chamomile. It works quietly to help with mild sleeplessness and to promote relaxation. Chamomile has been used in many cultures for skin vitality, anxiety and at the onset of colds or flues. The miniature yellow flowers look like buttons on a baby’s sweater.

Cinnamon Bark
Cinnamomum cassia: Everyone likes the taste of cinnamon. A warming stimulant and calmer, cinnamon bark’s flavor is sweet and spicy. It is extra beneficial to the digestion and good for well-being in general.

Clove Flower Buds
Syzgium aromaticum: ORGANIC. Cloves have been enjoyed for centuries in India and Arabia. We know its flavor well, but are now discovering its distinctive taste in tea. This fragrant herb blesses us with stimulating and warming properties as well as benefiting digestion. Long, long ago cloves were faithfully carried in amulets to attract riches and love.

Dandelion Root
Taraxacum officinale: ORGANIC. This Northern Hemispheric weed grows just about everywhere. And has long been the bane of gardeners. But dandelion is a botanical treasure. Throughout the ages, herbalists have suggested it for liver and digestion, increasing energy and vitality. Dandelion is a rich source of Vitamin A, C, calcium, iron and potassium. (Avoid if have gallstones or intestinal blockage)

Dandelion Leaf
Taraxacum officinale: ORGANIC. Often thought of as a gardener’s menace, this sunny little yellow flowered herb, is restorative and rich in vitamins and minerals including calcium and potassium. It has always been used as a kidney aid and for its nutritive values. Drink your greens!

Fenugreek Seeds
Trigonella foenum graecum: ORGANIC. Cultivated in ancient Greece and Egypt, Fenugreek is one of the oldest recorded medicinal herbs. Considered to be an aphrodisiac tonic with rejuvenative properties, Fenugreek is most often used to sooth the digestive tract and relieve the body of excess mucous.

Fennel Seed
Foeniculum vulgare: ORGANIC. From the Umbellularia botanical family, fennel’s umbrella-like flowers present ochre seeds in fall. Considered a gentle stimulant to the liver and soothing for the tummy. Fennel is cultivated ORGANICally in France.


Ginger Root
Zingiber officinale: ORGANIC. Our ORGANIC ginger root will heat things up, stimulating and energizing to the entire body. Especially good for digestion and circulation. Enhancing the effectiveness of any herbal formulation. The old herbals often recommended ginger for love potions. (Avoid if have gallstones or taking anti-clotting drugs such as Coumadin or blood thinners such as aspirin, Plavix and Ticlid.)

Hibiscus Flowers
Hibiscus: ORGANIC. A luscious, tropical flower, Hibiscus takes to Southern California living. We add it for its high vitamin C content, beauty and tangy flavor.

Horsetail Leaves
Equisetum arvense: Wildcrafted. The little-known brush-like horsetail herb is often included in teas to help strengthen connective tissue, enhance the absorption of calcium by the body and as a good source of silica. You’ll find it happily growing near streams and rivers.

He Shou Wu Root
Polygonum multiflorum: Grown without chemicals/Sulfur-Free.
The Chinese say this ancient tonic herb nourishes the blood, liver and kidneys. They cherish it as a restorative for strength, fertility and vigor. We love He Shou Wu for all these reasons too. Our He Shou Wu comes from the Guan Dong Province in China. After harvest, it is taken to the Shan Dong Province to undergo the long cooking process required for use in tea.

Jujube Dates
Ziziphus jujuba: Grown without chemicals/Sulphur-Free. In China, this sweet red fruit is added to classic tea blends for its benefits to the nervous system and overall health. Our jujube dates come from the Hebei Province in China. They give Ener-Chi tea its delightful character and a zingy boost of flavor. Jujube Dates are often included in energy building formulas.

Licorice Root
Glyzirrhiza glabra: ORGANIC. In Chinese medicine, Licorice is a great formula balancer, added for its distinct sweet taste. Typically, Licorice is used to support the kidneys as well as for treating coughs. (Avoid during pregnancy, cirrhosis of the liver, severe kidney insufficiency, colistotic liver disorders, hypertonia, hypokalemia, EHT or if on steroids.)

Lavender Flowers
Lavendula officinale: ORGANIC from France. Lavender’s intoxicating scent and tiny florets make a delicious accent in our tea blends. It is often suggested for nervous exhaustion, tension headaches and to sooth the restless soul.

Lemon Balm
Leaf Melissa officinalis: ORGANIC. A potent herbal treasure, Lemon Balm’s zesty fragrance is as uplifting as the tea. We herbalists place it in the garden for the spirit. It’s said to calm the nerves and help indigestion. The dainty leaves are best if harvested before flowering.

Lemon Grass Leaf
Cymbopogon citratus: ORGANIC. On the Big Island of Hawaii the locals drink it straight as iced tea. Lemon Grass, both a culinary and tea herb, has the delicate flavor and fragrance of fresh apples. We have found one of the few ORGANIC sources close at hand.

Lemon Verbena Leaf
Aloysia triphylla : ORGANIC. A comfort when the nerves get edgy, even its divine fragrance will help wash away your worries. Enjoy the gift of nature. Found in: Dancing Spirit Tea

Meadowsweet Herb
Filipendula ulmaria: Wildcrafted. With such a lyrical name, one can only imagine comfort and joy. And so this cooling herb has been used from Elizabethan times to "ease fever and pain" and stomach upsets – Oh Gentle Comfort!

Nettles Leaf
Urtica dioica: ORGANIC. Return to vitality! If you remember no other herb, remember nettles. Herbalists revere this herb for its deeply nourishing and strengthening green goodness. Nettles are rich in iron and calcium and other valuable minerals. We sip it as a tonic in Safe Passage year-round.

Oatstraw Tops
Avena sativa: ORGANIC. Mineral rich and nutritious, oatstraw is especially valuable to women during menopause. Our farmers know to harvest and dry it at its peak. Probably our favorite nerve tonic – oatstraw is a gentle elixir for the body, like a child’s love – unconditionally nourishing. High in calcium too. Food for being.

Orange Peel
Citrus sinensis: ORGANIC. It’s not just the fruit inside that counts. With orange peel’s zesty flavor, burst of vitamins and euphoric scent – how can you go wrong? Orange peel is that secret ingredient – stimulating and relaxing the overwrought simultaneously!

Osha Root
Ligusticum porterii: Wildcrafted. When you grow weary and run down you will be deeply touched by the power of Osha. Native Americans rely upon this natural treasure to help prevent and treat sore throats, coughs and colds. Western herbalists of old and new consider Osha to be a powerhouse immune building herb with antiviral properties. (Avoid during pregnancy.)

Partridge Berry
Mitchella repens: Wildcrafted. Passed down to us by our Native American sisters as a reproductive tonic to support pregnancy, balance hormones and regulate menstruation.

Passion Flower Herb
Passiflora incarnata: Wildcrafted. A tropical vine renowned by herbalists for it’s relaxing effects on the nerves and muscles. Passion flower is often recommended in formulas for insomnia, anxiety and headaches.

Peppermint Leaf
Mentha piperita: ORGANIC. An all-time favorite for it’s refreshing flavor, stimulating properties and tummy-taming quality. The old herbal texts suggested the mints for everything from mild nausea and skin disorders to flatulence and reducing fever. Cooling peppermint is a healthy pleasure.

Raspberry Leaf
Rubus idaeus: Wildcrafted/ORGANIC. Leafy red raspberry leaf is nourishing for both men and women as a reproductive tonic during all phases of life and especially valuable to pregnant women as they prepare for childbirth.


Red Clover Flowers
Trifolium pratens: Wildcrafted. The beautiful crimson flowers of Red Clover have been harvested in the wild for generations to nourish, balance and cleanse. Red clover is a natural skin tonic.

Sassafras Root Bark
Sassafras albidium: Wildcrafted. Another North American herb, sassafras has traditionally been recommended for the liver and blood. It is also a welcome addition to detoxification teas because it greatly enhances the flavor and adds warmth. A little goes a long way. Sassafras is the herb that gives root beer its distinctive flavor.

Schizandra Berries
Wu wei zi: Grown without chemicals/Sulphur-Free. Grown in the Ji Lin Province of China, Schizandra Berries were used in traditional Chinese formulas to protect the liver and tone the kidneys and lungs, increasing vitality and comforting the nerves. It is considered an adaptogen and combines well with other herbs to support the immune system. Schizandra is a true friend.

Siberian Ginseng Root
Eleutherococcus senticosus: ORGANIC. One of our favorite adaptogens – a category of herbs that help tonify and balance all systems of the body and that have an overall immune enhancing affect. It can be used as a daily tonic to increase resistance and build endurance. (Avoid if diabetic, have high blood pressure or are using anti-clotting drugs.)

Spearmint Leaf
Mentha spicata: ORGANIC. Spearmint is often used in tea for its refreshing flavor and gentle stimulating properties in much the same way as peppermint yet somewhat milder. Children love it and so do we!

Skullcap Herb
Scutellaria lateriflora: ORGANIC. Skullcap brings relief for busy minds. Considered an excellent nerve tonic, Skullcap is a nighttime blessing, taking the edge of those overwhelming days. And easing your way into restful sleep.

St. Johnswort Herb
Hypericum perforatum: ORGANIC. This lemon yellow flowering herb is harvested wild. St. Johnswort gained international fame in recent years for its use as an anti-depressant. St. Johnswort is found in formulas to even out mood swings associated with hormonal imbalances related to menopause and PMS. Ah, the blessings of nature. (Avoid if taking anti-depressants or drugs for autoimmune related diseases, including aids. Fair-skinned individuals should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight when taking.)

Star Anise Seed
Illicium anisatum: Grown without chemicals/Sulphur-Free. Not only exotic and beautiful, Star Anise is helpful as a warming digestive aid.

Wood Betony Herb
Stachys officinalis: ORGANIC. Most commonly used in the treatment of headaches and nervous disorders, Wood Betony was very popular in ancient Greece to revive good humor, dispel anxiety and stimulate digestion.

Yellow Dock Root
Rumex crispus: Wildcrafted. A determined weed that thrives in disturbed areas under challenging conditions, handy Yellow Dock helps us thrive. Yellow Dock is frequently added to herbal formulas for the liver and to help improve assimilation of iron.
